Languages in small steps

1. Ask a teacher to save your placement and plan for English first language, Hindi third language or Kannada second language. Open the matching course in Learn & books. Each subject has its own placement and plan.
2. For Hindi or Kannada, start with short native-language choice groups, use a clue when needed, then try writing without choices. Native options have a device-listening button. Backgrounds, solved examples, puzzles, trivia and everyday conversations support the next step.
3. Choose Start small for letter detective, useful words, short sentences and tiny stories. Start or continue a group; try each activity and use Back to work then Submit work when finished. These self-started groups are guided practice.
4. Teachers can assign quizzes or independent checks in Assign work. Select the language course and optionally a practice group. Chapter readings link to official textbooks; original passages are labelled.
5. Choices and listed fixed answers are checked locally. Other written language answers use AI when the centre and learner allow it and budget is available. AI feedback is marked as optional teacher review; teachers can override. Ambiguous answers, unavailable AI or conflicting references can require teacher review.
6. English rubric answers are checked together with the student's working, even when the answer matches the model. An explanation is required only when the question asks for it. Textbook-dependent answers need reviewed source context for AI checking; otherwise they are saved for teacher review. No AI call is made for that missing-source check.
7. Listening tasks have a Play the passage button using an installed matching language voice. The transcript is shown after an attempt. A teacher or partner can read the passage if a device voice is unavailable.
8. After trying a guided question, use Review the worked answer to see its model and steps. Opening worked feedback records that help was used; it is not an independent attempt. The button is unavailable before an attempt or in independent mode.
9. For speaking, try aloud, record and replay on the device, then tick the practice checklist. Practice saved does not mean verified pronunciation, fluency or mastery. Ask your teacher for feedback when needed.
10. Everyday English teaches intended meaning and clear wording for different audiences. Indian English is a valid variety. For example, I came late is correct; Only I came late means nobody else was late.
11. The language AI tutor can explain in simple English, Tamil and requested Kannada, Hindi or Marathi text, then invite another attempt in the language being studied. Device playback depends on installed voices. Live voice uses existing centre/student permissions and spending limits; enabled microphone languages remain those listed in your learning settings.

Saved recordings are not generated by importing a language. Device voice is available when installed; AI voice needs the existing teacher/admin permission. Importing courses does not enable AI voice or spend money. Teacher-supported oral practice remains valuable. Prepared word pictures are in the English learning path; generated English images are not part of this beta.

Listening feedback checks the typed answer against the passage. It does not certify hearing or listening mastery; recognition-only choices and spoken self-checks also do not count as independent mastery.
