Worked examples and going back to basics

Use illustrated steps and prerequisites before asking for independent work.

  1. Student: inside an activity choose Build my foundation first for related prerequisite practice, or open an available worked example from the question help.
  2. Explain the question simply shows the prepared simpler wording. Read or listen, then return to the original task and try it yourself.
  3. Teacher: Worked examples lets authorised curriculum staff inspect the diagram, steps, real-life use and source; update drafts and publish when ready.
  4. Reviewed maths diagrams may show the given information beside a question. Answer-bearing diagrams stay in worked feedback after an attempt; a diagram does not replace the student's explanation or proof. For example, a midpoint question shows the known base and leaves the unknown segment marked with a question mark. These prepared diagrams use no AI credits. Newly published diagram revisions apply to new assignments; existing work keeps its pinned version.
  5. ICSE Class 6 has a prepared picture for every one of its 873 related worked examples (125 new visual models fill the previous text-only gaps and are reused across numerical variants). During guided work, students open Understand question and the prepared example, or Show me a picture → Open prepared picture and example. No AI switch or credits are needed. Pictures explain a different example, not the current answer; independent checks withhold them. Only guided ICSE work with a prepared example folds the paid form under Need a different AI picture? Other courses keep the Picture style and Illustrate controls visible inside Show me a picture. On a small screen, choose Enlarge picture and scroll across to read its labels. The reviewed bank has 213 givens-only question diagrams.
  6. Use Skills & diagnosis to choose the missing prerequisite deliberately. Guided examples and repeated practice do not count as fresh independent mastery.
