Enable and use live AI conversation

Speak naturally while the app controls permissions, time and spending.

Look for: Start talking · End call

  1. On an activity, tap Talk to AI tutor. The right panel immediately shows Start talking; press it when ready. Voice settings & details contains the call limit, idle timeout, voice and privacy details. During a call, Microphone on and End call remain visible even when you collapse the tutor or change views. Near the call limit, a time warning appears.
  2. Manager: in AI & spending enable external voice and live voice at the centre. Choose the live model, reasoning, call minutes, idle timeout, child daily live minutes and budgets.
  3. Teacher/admin: in the learner’s support enable AI tutoring and reviewed external-speech eligibility. Under AI voice, tick Interactive AI voice and Save AI voice settings. A teacher needs the manager’s permission to grant live access.
  4. For conversation without AI question reading, leave Read aloud question unchecked. AI recording with transcription is a separate option for Record → Stop → Transcribe; live conversation does not need that checkbox. Example: a learner talks to the tutor but presses device Listen for questions.
  5. Student: open an active activity, click Start talking and allow the microphone. Speak after the app confirms it is listening. Use HTTPS and a network that supports the microphone connection.
  6. End call when finished. The call also ends for idle timeout, maximum duration, disconnection, changed permissions or exhausted allowances. Idle-call expiry does not sign the student out.
  7. Guide/Solve rules apply. Live speech streams immediately, so it does not receive a separate checker before the child hears it. Ask the teacher to review doubtful advice.
  8. The app saves AI reply transcripts for authorised staff. It does not retain the live microphone audio or a separate word-for-word student transcript. Playground choices do not change this app’s selected model.
