Language, voice, reading support and eligibility

Personalise how the tutor speaks and how a learner receives help.

For: Teacher, Centre Manager, Super Admin

  1. Open the prominent Language, voice and reading support button beside the learner. Choose the home/strongest language and the supported explanation languages to repeat.
  2. Record academic language order, simple/chunked/standard instructions, text size, speaking speed, voice and preferred device accent. These are support needs, not diagnoses.
  3. Enable the personalised AI tutor for the learner only after recording a current consent/eligibility reference and review expiry. Device read-aloud is always available; AI voice, Quick Voice and live conversation have separate permissions.
  4. Under AI voice, choose Read aloud question, Interactive AI voice and AI recording with transcription independently, then press Save AI voice settings. New learners start with AI voice off; existing choices are preserved. Refresh the learner’s activity after saving.
  5. Read aloud question uses AI for questions and prepared explanations. Interactive AI voice enables live conversation and spoken tutor replies. AI recording with transcription turns a stopped recording into text. Quick voice needs both interactive voice and transcription; device Listen and local recording remain available without either.
  6. Admins choose Teachers and admins or Only admins under Who can change these options. A teacher cannot change locked choices, including through an older form. For example, enable Interactive AI voice and transcription, leave Read aloud question unchecked, and lock the choices to admins.
  7. Disabling AI voice ends active live calls and cancels queued spoken replies. Device listening and local spoken drafts remain available. Admin enablement still requires the centre external-voice switch; new cloud requests also need current eligibility and available budget. Live conversation needs its own learner and centre permissions.
  8. Attach a private PDF, PNG or JPEG up to 10 MB if available. Files are encrypted and restricted to authorised staff; new uploads preserve earlier evidence and downloads are audited.
  9. Managers may require uploaded evidence in AI & spending. It is optional by default; a required missing document or expired eligibility blocks AI. Private evidence is never sent to the tutor.
  10. In Guide or Solve, choose Guide for clues or Solve for worked solutions. An administrator can lock either mode. A mode change ends existing live calls and invalidates pending replies under the old mode.
